Old Sugar Distillery is hosting a speakeasy party on Thursday.

Wednesday, May 14

Welcome author Patrick Dawson to Brasserie V for a beer tasting, book signing and discussion of his newly released book, Vintage Beer. Dawson will explain which beers, like wine, taste better with age. The tasting will also include a comparison of freshly brewed and aged beers. $22, 7 p.m., brasseriev.com

Thursday, May 15

Get dolled up and head over to Old Sugar Distillery for a speakeasy party celebrating cocktail culture and the art of artisanal spirits. Guests NessAlla Kombucha will be mixing up cocktails from their Kombucha and Old Sugar spirits to the tunes of live ragtime piano music. Saturday, May 17

Taste samples of gluten free products from more than twenty vendors at Metcalfe’s annual Gluten Free Food Fair. The two-day fair brings local vendors including Silly Yak Bakery, Potter’s Crackers and Yumbutter to Metcalfe’s Hilldale and West Towne locations. UW Health Dietitians and members of the Madison Area Gluten Intolerance Chapter will also be on hand at the Hilldale location to educate and answer questions. Call 608-238-7612 for more information. Been itching to break out the grill? Conscious Carnivore and Capital Brewery can help with that—join them at the Capital Bier Garten for the Brew, BBQ and Blues Festival. Madison Craft Beer Week may be over, but the celebration continues with American Craft Beer Week. Join Wisconsin Brewing Company and local author Jim Draeger for a Books n’ Brew event. Draeger will discuss his book, Bottoms Up: A Toast to Wisconsin’s Historic Bars and Breweries, highlighting the architecture and history of seventy Wisconsin breweries and bars. 2–4 p.m., wisconsinbrewingcompany.com

Be one of the first to preview Imaginary Bar, an upcoming Willy Street spot, with evening of cocktails, small plates and bar snacks hosted at Osteria Papavero.
